Security Archives to open

EVANS – Security Archives of Denver hopes to secure a market in Northern Colorado. The company, which provides off-site document storage and retrieval at two warehouses in Denver, will launch a Northern Colorado division inmid-January.
Security Archives will operate out of a 44,000-square-foot warehouse at 600 31st St., catering to clients in Fort Collins, Greeley and Loveland. John Kundert, a veteran of the Northern Colorado banking industry, serves as division manager. Kundert said the Evans office will seek to expand on an existing Northern Colorado client base. Security Archives already stores 10,000 boxes from customers in the region.
“There’s a lot of people that store stuff in public warehousing and mini warehouses,” Kundert said, pointing to likely clients for the company. Security Archives stores all kinds of records, from paper documents to microfiche, microfilm, X-rays and CD-ROMs. Such documents can be stored in a climate-controlled vault, complete with a fire-suppression system and humidity and temperature controls.
Additionally, the company employs a sophisticated software system that makes retrieval of documents relatively easy.
“Anybody can store a box, but the real test is can they locate it again and not lose it,” Kundert said. He added that Security Archives maintains a low profile when picking up or delivering records because some clients are concerned about security. The company uses unmarked vans, and drivers are not in uniform.
“Most of the companies like us to kind of blend into the background,” he said.
Kundert spent 22 years in the banking industry, including stints at Eaton Bank, United Bank of Brighton, United Bank of Lasalle and First Northern Savings & Loan. Security Archives also is considering expansion into Wyoming, Grand Junction and elsewhere in the Denver area.
