Business Interiors opens showroom in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS — Business Interiors, a division of Colorado-based Office Furniture USA, has opened a showroom in Fort Collins.

Business Interiors specializes in furniture for small- to medium-sized businesses.

From its new 5,000-square-foot facility at 2531 S. College Ave., the company will showcase its merchandise in an effort to reach a broad market extending up and down the Northern Front Range and as far north as Cheyenne, said Margie Nicholl, manager of the new location.

“All of Northern Colorado is our market,” she said. “What we are is like a catalog showroom.”

The Fort Collins showroom will give prospective buyers an opportunity to examine products before ordering them — all purchases are done through the Business Interiors catalog, which features furniture from about 25 different manufacturers and includes more than 4,000 items.

“But you can custom order another two million items,” Nicholl emphasized. “We can order anything from these 25 manufacturers.

“The market is growing up here. It’s a perfect fit,” she added. “There’s nowhere else in Fort Collins where you can come in and see so much furniture.”

The Fort Collins showroom is launching with two employees and expectations to grow as business takes off.

And, likely, business will take off — the demand for office and home office furnishings has rarely been higher.

“The home-office products industry today continues to experience tremendous growth,´ said Steve Jacober, president of the School & Home Office Products Association in Dayton, Ohio. “One trend is the increase in the number of home-based businesses created by [corporate] down-sizing. As many Americans have left the traditional office environment, their entrepreneurial spirit has sparked the birth of new, exciting, and successful businesses, many of which are home-based.

“The consolidation and down-sizing has left many businesses with a smaller, yet more productive staff,” Jacober added.

With more than 70 employees in Colorado and more than 33 years of experience, Business Interiors’ services reach far beyond the reference frame of home-office furnishings.

“We do everything from large office buildings to small startup companies right down to your home office,” Nicholl said. “In Northern Colorado, there’s nothing like this.”

Denver-based Business Interiors operates another branch office in Colorado Springs and more than 120 franchises nationwide. Business Interiors and Office Furniture USA do a lot of business, Nicholl explained. “We’ve negotiated such good pricing, and we can pass that on to the customers because of the volume we’re doing,” she said.
