Bravo! Entrepreneur program set for Greeley

Oct. 27, 1999.

Mark your calendars. The time is fast approaching for the 1999 version of the Bravo! Entrepreneur awards, Northern Colorado’s only regional entrepreneur awards program.

This year’s Bravo! event will be conducted at the University of Northern Colorado’s University Center Ballroom in Greeley. Reception begins at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 27, with dinner and an awards banquet to follow.

Host-city emcee this year is Lyle Butler, president of the Greeley/Weld Chamber of Commerce. He’ll be joined by KUSA Channel 9 business reporter Gregg Moss as guest emcee.

Although just in its second year, Bravo! Entrepreneur has positioned itself as one of the premiere business events in Northern Colorado. Platinum sponsors include Norwest Banks/Wells Fargo Banks, Garnsey & Wheeler Ford of Greeley, and Pratt Properties LP of Longmont. Other major sponsors include Managed Business Solutions, Awards Sponsor; ICG Communications, Dinner Sponsor; Flood & Peterson Insurance Inc., Reception Sponsor; and First National Bank and Union Colony Bank, Corporate Gift Sponsors.

Gold sponsors as of Oct. 4 include Everitt Commercial Partners, Holland & Hart and Poudre Valley Health System. Many more silver sponsors are either committed or lining up as well.

Bravo! Entrepreneur is designed to recognize the best in entrepreneurship across Northern Colorado, with Bravo! Entrepreneurs recognized in Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland and outlying communities. Additionally, a Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed, as well as a Regional Spirit Award.

Last year saw some well-deserving winners from throughout the region, including Kent and Gloria Sampson, Value Plastics Inc., Fort Collins Bravo! Entrepreneur; Darrell McAllister, 1st Choice Bank, Greeley Bravo! Entrepreneur; Thom Schultz, Group Publishing Inc., Loveland Bravo! Entrepreneur; Bill Coleman, Colorado Greenhouse Holdings LLC, outlying communities Bravo! Entrepreneur; W.D. Farr, Lifetime Achievement Award; and Hewlett-Packard Co., Regional Spirit Award.

What’s especially gratifying about Bravo! Entrepreneur is that not only are we able to recognize the best in business, but we’re also able to do it in a regional context. Business and civic leaders from Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland and even Boulder and Denver gather and mingle.

Once again, Bravo! is brought to you by The Northern Colorado Business Report, with assistance from Burns Marketing/Communications, Advanced Media, Citizen Printing, All About Events and Balloonz & Bouquets.

It is a cooperative program, with assistance from the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Collins Economic Development Corp., the Greeley/Weld Chamber of Commerce, the Greeley/Weld Economic Development Action Partnership Inc., the Loveland Chamber of Commerce and the Loveland Economic Development Council.

Nominations for this year’s awards were sought through The Business Report and chamber-of-commerce and economic-development agency newsletters. Additionally, nominees held over from last year were automatically put back into the mix this year. Members of the Awards Committee could bring names to the table as well.

This year, the Awards Committee consisted of Dave Armstrong, Centennial Bank of the West, Fort Collins; Irene Johnson, Linsco Private Ledger, Loveland; Barb Kirkmeyer, Weld County Commissioner, Greeley; Lucille Mantelli, Eastman Kodak Co., Windsor; Ted Warner, Connecting Point in Greeley and Rocky Mountain Technology Solutions, Fort Collins; Jim Willard, Hewlett-Packard Co., Loveland; and Marge Yoder, Travel Connection, Fort Collins.

The committee pored through reams of information on nominees before coming to an agreement on each award category.
