Firstate Bank to open new branch in Boulder

BOULDER — Firstate Bank of Colorado will open a branch at the southeast corner of 30th Street and Arapahoe Road in the building formerly occupied by Cain Travel Group.

Cain Travel, which owns the building at 3000 Arapahoe Road, will relocate to 3004 Arapahoe — just south of the site.

“For Firstate Bank, this was really a tremendous move for them because it’s on such a highly visible corner,´ said Becky Gamble, a broker with Dean Callan & Co. who represented the bank in the lease transaction.

Tom Hill of Coldwell Banker Moore & Co. represented Cain Travel.

Cain Travel, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year, will take all 12,000 square feet of the new, three-story building owned by local businessman Tom Harrington. Cain will gut the other building for a complete redesign and plans to move in stages beginning at the first of October. The entire move is expected to be completed by the end of October.

“We needed more space and we felt it would be to the company’s advantage to have all of our staff in one building again,” explained owner Linda Cain.

The lease was signed in August. Firstate will be moving into the building near the end of October and expects to open about Nov. 1 at 3000 Arapahoe.

The Northglenn-based commercial bank, with $500 million in total assets at last count, also has branches in Lafayette and Longmont as well as a branch at 6685 Gunpark Drive in the Gunbarrel area of Boulder.

“We have a very, very healthy business ongoing in Boulder County and are about to invest more in Boulder County with (the) new location,´ said Firstate Bank President Tim Wiens.

Firstate will inherit from one-time occupant Empire Savings & Loan a drive-through facility as part of the 9,000-square-foot building. About 4,500 square feet of street-level office space will be taken by Firstate; the balance of garden-level space will be sublet, Gamble said.

Firstate Bank of Colorado is held by Kimball, Neb.-based First Western Corp., which was founded in 1974.
